ELEMENTARY
GRADES K-5 (each year a grade is added until the 8th grade.)
Curriculum:
Math, Science, Social Studies, Reading, Language Arts, Science, Spanish, Art , Physical Education and community service. Our curriculum is project based with each subject having a public speaking component. The Preschool and Kindergarten are in the final stage of the national accreditation (NAEYC) process with an anticipated completion date of July 31, 2009.
Our curriculum is standards based. This means, in part, that we utilize the Department of Education’s Curriculum Frameworks as a benchmark in developing our curriculum. Our curriculum always meets but generally exceeds the DOE standards upon completion of a program. The K-5 curriculum is designed to have our students strongly prepared to confidently meet the challenges when place in any school environment. We believe in setting high standards for all our students. All children love to learn. It is our goal to find the way to individually address their needs so that going to school is a fun and rewarding experience. Our class size does not exceed eight students in grades 2-5 and is a12:2 ration in grades K-1. This provides the opportunity for each child to receive individual assistance in maximizing the opportunity for success. High standards are not just for the academic arena. We also encourage and provide students the opportunities to develop a sense of pride in themselves, in their school and within their family and community environments through community service, organized sports and extracurricular activities. We believe that this approach provides the individual child the best possible opportunity to meet with success in our increasingly more globalized world.
